Chemistry Lab Lesson 3 March 2009

We went through titration in class today. We are supposed to read through the slides on titration before we came for today's lesson.

To start off titration, we must first rinse the burette and pipette with the reagent we are putting inside them.

Next, fill the conical flask with the reagent using the pipette and then add in 4 to 5 drops of methyl orange indicator.

After that is done, we can set up the apparatus accordingly and start the experiment.

Perform the experiment and observe the end point.

Errors to be avoided:
1) Eyes must be on the same level of the meniscus of the burette when reading the final volume on the burrete
2) Burette must be rinsed with the reagent that we are about to place inside them to prevent inpurities.
3) The tip of the pipette must be tapped against the bottom of the conical flask to give a more accurate volume.
